Criminal Defense Case with a result of Dismissed

Our Client was charged with simple battery that lead up to his arrest.

An alleged altercation began at someone's wedding, in which the alleged victim left the celebration and went home. Later, the client arrived at the same residence where it was alleged that disagreement between the two continued. The alleged victim reported that she was grabbed by the arm which led to a struggle. The alleged victim called the police and showed them marks on her arm which she claimed our client caused when he grabbed her although there were no other witnesses. Based only upon the statement of the alleged victim, our client was arrested and charged him with simple battery.

Immediately after being retained, we contacted the prosecutor and arranged for our client to participate in the Deferred Prosecution Program.  The program usually requires a small fee to the State Attorney's Office, no court costs and participation in a domestic violence prevention program.  As with our client, when the Program is completed, the charges are dropped and then can quite possibly be expunged.

This case illustrates why it is important to consider hiring a local attorney who knows all the options available.
